Chit chat, and such other nessesary boredoms

The meeting had been shorter than Jason expected, probably added by the fact that he was holding all of the protocols that were expected to be followed in his hands. He was rather glad he wasn't being treated like the students he was going to have to teach. That just was enough to drive a man batty, really. Once the meeting was ajorned, he took a few moments to look about the table. He really should have headed back to London--he wanted to make sure that Trysta wasn't getting into trouble. Or, heaven forbid, that Michelle had regressed to a younger age than usual and Trysta was getting them BOTH into trouble. But one day, he would have to learn to trust his daughter, so getting to know his fellow professors was a worthy risk to take. To this end, Jason looked at Professor Gonzales.

"SO! You are the new Head Honey Badger. What will it take me to appease you so you don't jump me in a dark hallway?" This was, of course, said in a very obviously joking manner.

The meeting was not what Brett expected at all, to say the least. He was expecting loftiness of soaring ideals, and how important it was, as teachers, to guide their students. Yet it was fairly practical and short. Somehow, Brett felt a little disappointed - he sort of wanted to hear a self-aggrandizing speech about just how important they are, and then tear apart the speech merciless and... well, no, more just make fun of people who had too large of an ego.

Interestingly, he saw none of that yet, with the one possible exception of the Deputy Headmaster.

He went about roughly sorting his papers and stashing them away as he stood up. As he did so, the man who was pointed out to him as Mr. White, the house head of Gryffindor (who came up with these names?), addressed him. Or at least, Brett thinks so.

He turned his head a little, giving the man a raised eyebrow that was simply far too dramatic for the situation. In a raspy voice Brett replied, "On the ides, ye must sacrifice, upon a stone edifice, a pair of goats of prime age and a beaver of fine fur. Only then shall I be appeased."

Brett then coughed and rubbed his throat in mild pain. "I really need to stop doing that."

Upon the finishing of Brett's speech, measured but not mocking applause went through the mostly empty library.

"Bravo, Professor Gonzalez," said Mika with a smirk, eyes sparkling with amusement, "and, I trust, Professor White, you will not judge our Head of Hufflepuff by his name. Things--and people--are always more than what they seem."

She spoke with a measured amusement in her tone. As if the prove her point, she snapped thumb and middle finger, thus Summoning her second cup of tea from the table to her hand.

"Point taken, gentlemen?" she asked, head falling to the side. The amusement never left her face.

Jason stared at professor Gonzales a few moments. As the headmistress started applauding, Jason started laughing. That was something that he had not expected at all, and in all it took him a few moments to regain a teacherly composure.

"I LIKE this man," He said, wiping his eyes. "Probably should be terrified of him, but that was the best comeback I've heard in a very long time. If I can't find goats and beavers, do you mind lambs and raccoons?"

Brett gave the headmistress polite smile and nod, though honestly he would much prefer that anything referring to getting his Wild on would not be said, no matter how oblique. So much easier that way, really. But his thoughts turned to... raccoons, of all things, and he looked to Professor White.

He half smiled. "A gold statue in my likeness will suffice," he replied. "That your House of troublemakers have to polish whenever they get detention." He smiled broadly at that. He's heard enough rumors and stories from English wizards that he knew full well what the Gryffindor is like.
